All For the Hall Los Angeles fundraiser took place last night, September 23, 2010 at Club Nokia.
The event follow a “guitar pull” format and feature performances by Country Music Hall of fame member Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Vince Gill and superstar Taylor Swift. The special guest and remarkable performances of Lionel Richie.
The museum launched All for the for the Hall, Its first-ever non-bricks -and-mortar fund raising campaign, in 2005. The campaign addresses the museum's needed for long term financial security and will provide a safety net for the institution and its work. Last night, marked the 4th year the museum has taken it's “annual giving” event on the road. Hosting previous All for the Hall events in New York in 2007 and 2008 and in Los Angeles in 2009.
That evening offers a unique performances of each and every singer-songwriters to interact with one another as they take turns swapping songs, stories and personal recollections. The “guitar pull” is a Nashville Specialty; it originated in the homes of Nashville songwriters who gathered to try out new compositions for their peers. Nashville's storied guitar pulls were hosted by John and June Carter Cash. The Hallmarks of a great guitar pull are spontaneity and camaraderie.
This year event will provide much needed support as Nashville works to recover from the devastating impact of a once-very-500-years flood in Ford Theater.
All the for the Hall Los Angeles is chaired by AEG Live Chairman Tim Leiweke and produced by CAA's Rod Essig and Vector Management's Ken Levitan. Gill has recorded more than twenty studio albums, charted over forty singles on the U.S.
Kris Kristofferson has enjoyed a distingushed career that has encompassed the authorship of such classic American songs as Me and Bobby ;for the Good Times; to name a few. Three Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe Award; and a year of outspoken political and social activism.
